Egmore is located in north Chennai on Pantheon Road (south-west of George Town), is the Government Museum Complex. It has four main buildings; The Museum Theatre, The Connemara Library, The National Art Gallery and The Madras Museum. The Museum Theatre is recently renovated with better seats for visitors arranged in a semicircle around the stage and designed so beautifully that it is spacious and amazingly intimate at the same time. If you want to enjoy other festivals, dance, music, poetry, art and theatre, this all helds in the first week of December in this theatre. There is the grand Connemara Library in this complex. This public library is a veritable storehouse of rare books. The National Art Gallery, part of the Pantheon Complex, is unlike any other in Chennai and has a foyer full of sculptures. Complex entry fee for Indians is Rs 15 and for foreigners is Rs 250. The timings are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Fridays closed.
